Injected deep into the gluteal muscle (upper outer quadrant of the buttock) or into the deltoid muscle (upper arm).

How old do i have to be to have it?

18 years old.

How often will i need the injection?

How often you’ll need Kenalog for allergies depends on your individual condition and how your body responds to the injection. Here’s a general guideline:

Typical Frequency for Anti-Allergy Use (IM Kenalog Injection):

1 injection every 3–6 months is common for seasonal allergies (e.g., hay fever).
Some people may get it once per allergy season (e.g., spring or fall).
Others might require it twice a year if they have more persistent symptoms.

Important Considerations:

Kenalog is not meant for frequent, repeated use due to potential side effects (e.g., adrenal suppression, thinning skin, bone loss).
It’s usually recommended only when other treatments (antihistamines, nasal sprays) are ineffective or not tolerated.
Long-term or repeated use should be carefully managed by a licensed healthcare provider.

Does it hurt and is there any down time?

The injection takes a few seconds and is not very painful as the substance itself is not irritating to the tissue. Normal daily activities can be resumed after, lethargy has been reported for 24 hours after.
